EAST PRESTON SILVER SURFERS COMPUTER CLUB.

(President Emeritus : Frank James)

A SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING

WILL BE HELD IN THE CONSERVATIVE HALL EAST PRESTON ON

THURSDAY 19th April 2012 AT 2.00PM

Background

The committee considers there are merits in changing future club membership years to coincide with the calendar year, i.e. 1st January until 31st December, and to hold future AGMs during November. At present the membership year commences on 1st June followed a few weeks later by the AGM. It is the committee’s opinion that AGMs should be held, the committee elected and fees agreed etc. before the membership year commences and before members are invited to rejoin and pay their annual subscription. Holding the AGM in November is a quieter time of year compared to June/July when club activities are often disrupted with closure for the Flower Festival, the East Preston Festival Open Day, bank holidays and members' own holidays. To make such a change requires a vote of agreement at a General Meeting by the membership.

If change is agreed it is further suggested that the present membership year be extended to 31st December 2012 without additional payment other than the weekly fee; therefore the next annual subscription (currently £10) will not become due until 1st January 2013.

Agenda

The meeting shall consider and, if thought fit, approve by simple majority voting the proposal that:

“Future club membership years to be from 1st January until 31st December and future Annual General Meetings to be held during November of each year. As a consequence, the present membership year shall be extended until 31st December 2012 without any additional payment by members other than the normal weekly fee”.

ALL MEMBERS ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO ATTEND

The special general meeting, which is expected to be quite short, will be followed by the normal weekly meeting which appears on the club program, namely SURFER'S QUESTION TIME. More details about this will follow.
